Dakota Dental 4 Kids

Project Description:

Project Summary

In 2018 Dr. Chad Carpenter reached out to Rangel Construction Company to discuss his goal of opening a new pediatric dental clinic in Rapid City. Until that time, Rapid City only had one well-reputed pediatric dental clinic, so Dr. Carpenter’s plan was ambitious. Furthermore, Chad had just finished doubling the size of his existing dental practice (Carpenter Dental). What an entrepreneur! This new pediatric clinic was the 3rd consecutive project to which Dr. Carpenter turned for the services of Rangel Construction. In addition to construction, Rangel Construction was also entrusted with the interior architecture, mechanical, and electrical designs for this Design-Build project. Amanda Williams with ACW Design was the interior designer chosen to produce this beautiful space, and Rangel Construction had an excellent working relationship with her throughout the project.

The new clinic, Dakota Dental 4 Kids, was constructed within an existing retail/office building on the southwest side of Rapid City. Interior construction was all wood, and the existing water, sewer, power, and HVAC systems were all investigated, utilized, and modified. The total space remodeled for the new clinic was around 1,900 sf, and the functional/spatial needs of the new clinic presented a considerable design challenge. Working together with ACW, Rangel Construction was able to deliver a final design that included a break room, small private office, two ADA restrooms, a mechanical/dental equipment room, a lab/sterilization room, two x-ray rooms, five treatment chairs, a reception/business office, a waiting room, and a children’s waiting area. The finishes selected produce a great feeling within the space, most especially the large digital image that was converted to a permanently mounted wall covering within the front lobby. Opening business activity for this new clinic greatly exceeded expectations! Rangel Construction Company was awarded a Construction Industry Center Master Craftsmanship Award for its work on this project.
