Work Continues at Mt. Rushmore Historic Studio

After three previous successful projects in support of the National Park Service in South Dakota, Rangel Construction was awarded a national bid to restore and rehabilitate the historic Gutzon Borglum Studio and Residence on the grounds of the world-famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Chosen out of the NPS’s Denver Regional office, Rangel Construction was named to the project for our experience, technical capability, and strong relationship with the park service. Work began in November 2017 on the project, which includes rehabilitation of deteriorating building elements such as windows, masonry, and interior wood. The plan also involves a complete site update for ADA accessibility, including installation of a new elevator. With the advent of spring, much needed exterior renovations will begin on the outside of the buildings as well. An example of Rangel Construction’s handiwork at Mount Rushmore can also be seen at the Youth Exploration Children’s Shelter, which was completed in 2015.
