Rangel Construction chosen for expansion of Philip Health Services

After years of planning and fundraising, Philip Health Services in Philip, SD, has contracted with Rangel Construction to add a new 14,000 sq. ft. addition to its long-term care wing, in addition to a remodel of 12,000 sq. ft. of existing space within the facility.

The nursing home, along with its accompanying hospital and medical clinic, has a long and interesting history, starting in 1954 with a single doctor from Latvia who wished to offer his services to the rural town of Philip. >From this modest beginning the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital was established, and the nursing home was added to the community in 1970. After years of financial difficulties, a new hospital was constructed in 2001 that housed the nursing home and the RJ Talty Medical Center under one roof. In the ensuing years, Philip Health Services has continued to grow and thrive.

Rangel Construction is privileged to be chosen to contribute to the expansion of this important complex in the Philip community. Groundbreaking took place on May 15, 2020, and the project is expected to take nearly two years to complete.
